It’s been a week since we took part in the Spring Affordable Art Fair nestled in Battersea Park.
This year the AAF put an emphasis on the workshops encouraging the visitors to get creative and hands-on.
On the Private View night, we did a Colour Painting Demonstration which consisted of a live floral still-life demonstration in two mediums – a pastel drawing on paper and an oil painting on canvas. We illustrated the diversity of materials and how they can be applied differently based on the artists’ artistic style.

The following day was the Creating Colours materials workshop with a talk on artists materials such as brushes, canvasses, and the colour palette. Visitors had the opportunity to create their own oil paints by grinding raw pigments with oil and understanding the value of using a limited palette to create vibrant pieces of art.

We ended our fair with the Colours Masterclass giving the visitors the freedom to express themselves in a fruitful still-life drop-in drawing workshop with the expert guidance of Ann Witheridge.
