Competitiion 1’s winner was….

For their first challenge, we asked our students to draw or paint a still life where it is not the subject matter that inspires them, but the paint handling, the experimental use of colour and the variety of edges

Competition 2’s Winner was Chris

We asked our students to create a colour chart as well as a mini painting using the Zorn palette.

Chris closely followed the brief and showed a good understanding of the hues, values, and chroma which can be achieved with a limited palette.

Competition 3’s winner was Toby

We asked our students to paint a portrait using Zorn’s palette.

Toby closely followed the brief and produced a wonderfully sensitive portrait of his friend David.

Competition 4’s winner was Howard

We asked our students to paint a figure using the Zorn Palette. This challenge was about designing the whole.

Howard closely followed the brief and produced a thoughtful painting of his daughter.

Competition 5’s winner was Madeline

We asked our students to paint eggs using the Zorn palette

Madeline followed the brief and included some other lovely objects alongside her little egg!

Competition 6’s winner was Cristina

We asked our students to send us a couple of paintings or drawings which they felt represented what they’d learnt at the studios.

Cristina submitted her lovely painting as she feels that it represents her biggest achievement of painting roses.
