Spend a day exploring the human form from a biological and artistic perspective with London Fine Art Studios. Ribera specialist Scott Pohlschmidt will guide you through the workings and anatomy of the human body, which will then inform a life drawing session. A visit to Ribera: Art of Violence will be included.
Outline of the day
Life drawing workshop:
– Scott Pohlschmidt will give a brief talk on Ribera, his techniques and his focus on gesture and anatomy.
– There will then be a life drawing lesson with two models (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). Scott will demonstrate how Ribera depicted different physiques, and how his understanding of anatomy enabled him to draw the extremes of the human form.
Guided tour of the Ribera exhibition:
– Explore Ribera: Art of Violence, and learn about the background of the paintings and Ribera’s techniques in a guided tour with Scott.
You are welcome to bring any drawing media you usually work with (for example, sketch pads, papers and graphite pencils, charcoals, chalks, sanguines, or pen and ink), but we will be providing materials for you to use as well.
Please note, the day includes a 30 minute break for lunch.
