@ London Fine Art Studios, Lavender Hill
Tuesday 26th May – Saturday 30th May 2020
5-day figure painting workshop: £525
This course uses alla prima (wet into wet) painting techniques to create a fresh, direct response to the figure; working on a toned ground, students start by sketching and placing the subject on the canvas, before blocking in two values: light and dark . Students then add the mid-tones in colour. By learning to simplify form, values and colour, students begin to interpret and break down the figure into more understandable tones and shapes instead of becoming distracted by details.
This class will be particularly helpful to students who wish to paint more loosely and to paint their subject with greater economy.
The 5-day course will run everyday from 10am-5pm. David will balance his classes between painting demonstrations and individual critiques.
Lavender Hill Colours, the school schop will be open from 9.00am, where students can buy a coffee and art materials. Further details about the course structure and materials will be sent nearer the time.
David graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Univeristy of Pennsyvania. He also studied at the Art Students’ League in New York. As a teenager David developed a love of traditional figurative painting. Later he began exploring a looser paint application which straddles the line between representational painting and abstraction. Shevlino is a renowned painter who is represented by galleries across America. He regularly gies workshops in the US & Canada; this will be his first workshop in Europe.
