During the final three weeks of term, we were introduced to colour theory and a limited palette of five different colours, alongside working from complicated casts and still life set-ups on longer projects. I loved grappling with the difficult still-life compositions and exploring how to portray the many different planes, colour tones and values. As each week went by, I felt I was becoming more confident in my painting and drawing skills – apart from various frustrations with proportion and a very difficult wine glass!
After a very happy first term at LFAS, I’ve now graduated from the Foundation Course! I’ve loved it and have enjoyed meeting so many creative and inspiring artists. I’m now really looking forward to my still-life and figure classes next term and putting into practice what I have learnt so far. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan!
